The
Course Component tool is very useful if you offer the same course more
than once. Using this tool you can copy course content, course files,
news, links, dropboxes, grade books, quiz questions, quizzes, and
surveys from one course to the next. The Component tool is accessible
from the course management console by first clicking the Edit Course
link and then the Components link in the course editing navbar.
1. Under My Academic Courses click on the course site that you want
to have materials transferred (copied) to.
2. Next click on the Edit Course link.
3. Locate the Components link and
click on the link to begin the Copy Components process.
4. Under Import/Export/Copy Components at the What
would you like to do? location the radio button for Copy
Components from another Org Unit is automatically selected for you.
5. Click on the Next button.
6. Under Copy Course Components at the Existing
Offering location click
on the drop down menu to select the D2L course site you want to copy
materials from.
7. Click on the Next button.
8. Under Copy Course Components at the Chose
Components to Copy location
check the Select All Components box. This will transfer all material
over to your new D2L course site. If you only want specific components
to copy over then check each box next to the specific materials you want
copied (i.e., only Content and Course Files). Note: if you only want
to have Content copied over it is important that you select and check
the box for Content and Course Files.
9. Click on the Next button.
10. Under Select Course Material at the Confirm
Components to Copy location
click on the Next button.
11. Under Copy Course Components at the Copy
Summary location click on
the Done button.
You have now successfully copied over material from an existing D2L
course site to the new D2L course site.
Exporting to a SCORM compliant Zip File for storage
This
is a very similiar process and interface as the Copy Components except
that in Step 2 you need to choose "Export Components" and in Step 7 you
need to click Done so that you can see a link to "Click here to
download the export Zip package".
